Jeff J. Drown – CEO
Founder, Jeff Drown grew up in the area and attended St. Cloud State University. It was there he first became involved in the construction industry when he purchased an investment property as a young entrepreneur. Today, with more than 15 years experience in the industry, Jeff has extensive construction management and expertise in the areas of operations, finance and staff management. He has been a part of building a wide variety of facilities including: office buildings, apartment buildings, multi-family units, assisted living facilities, industrial structures, and lot and block.
Jeff has been licensed as a Certified Building Contractor in the State of Minnesota since 2000. He holds memberships in the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), The Builders Group of MN, Minneapolis Builders Exchange and The Association of General Contractors of America. Jeff graduated with a Business Management degree at St. Cloud State University.
Matthew Pelant – Project Manager
As Project Manager Matt oversees the bidding and budgeting of projects of many different sizes and scopes. He also manages the warranty; service and remodeling of past projects after the buildings are turned over to the owner. This is to insure that the customer knows that Lyon Contracting values their relationship and takes as much pride in the buildings as they do. He also oversees a portfolio of office properties working with the management and construction. Matt has over 18 years of experience in construction and related businesses. Matt also holds an OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
Bill Clark – Project Manager
As a project manager for Lyon Contracting Bill currently oversees a variety of multi-family and assisted living projects. Having started out as a union carpenter fresh out of high school Bill has acquired over 37 years of experience in this industry. Bill’s extensive construction experience helps ensure that the projects flow from start to finish.
Working as a project manager he has been directly involved in the development and construction of over a thousand units of multi-family and assisted apartments throughout the Midwest. By working with owners, architects and engineers through the design phase, bidding process and finally the construction, Bill works hard to ensure that the projects are a success for everyone involved.
Terry Klein – Senior Project Superintendent
A senior level professional with over 41 years experience in the construction industry, Terry has been with Lyon from the beginning. For Terry, no 2 days are alike. His ability to adapt as you go and quick decision-making helps keeps projects moving along smoothly. Terry has a legendary drive and desire to complete projects on time and within budget which makes him a key team member.
As project superintendent, Terry promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, maintains an organized job site and rectifies job site hazards immediately. He coordinates and supervises all on-site construction activities, maintains a strict construction schedule and identifies any design build tribulations and provides immediate solutions. Terry works closely with customers, contractors, and suppliers.
Terry holds a Safety Committee Chair/OSHA 10 Hour Certification. He is also a member of St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors and Association of General Contractors of America.
Christopher Skiba – Project Superintendent
As project superintendent, Christopher is the on-site point person, overseeing day-to-day activities and working closely with subcontractors to keep the project moving along. With more than 18 years experience in construction related fields, he is in charge of scheduling, quality control, and executing change orders. As project superintendent, Christopher leads weekly and annual safety topics for all field personnel in an effort to increase awareness of safety techniques throughout the construction process. In addition he uses his extensive project supervisory, estimating and management experience to assist in contract negotiations and estimating.
Christopher heads relations with owners and subcontractors communicating project updates. In addition, he ensures compliance with all governmental policies and regulations.
Christopher holds an OSHA 10 Hour Certification. He is a member of St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors, and Association of General Contractors of America.
Jay Kangas – Project Superintendent
Jay is the on-site person who oversees the day-to-day activites and works closely with the subcontractors for that project to keep all aspects of the project moving smoothly.
Jay has over 15 years experience in construction, masonry, and as Project Manager and Superintendent.
Jay is familiar with GREEN building practices, which include GEO systems, Solar systems and developing an energy efficient envelope of the project, along with his certification for Storm Water and Erosion Control.
Jay works with the architects, engineers and city officials with the upfront design of projects to help eliminate any unforeseen problems. He has completed two required OSHA certifications, conducts weekly foreman meetings as well as safety meetings.
Luke Christian – Project Superintendent
As project superintendent, Luke is the on-site point person, overseeing day-to-day activities and working closely with subcontractors to keep the project moving along.
Luke has approximately 10 year’s experience in construction related field as Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
Luke’s ability to handle multiple projects and stay focused ensures that the projects are on task. Luke’s awareness of safety techniques and attention to detail, are the focus of weekly safety meeting.
Luke heads relations with owners and subcontractors communicating project updates. In addition Luke was awarded recognition from ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors Inc.)at the state and national levels. He also has certification in CPR and First Aid, along with 10 hours training certificate from OSHA. Supervisory Training course and Commercial Blueprint reading are a part of Luke’s education.
Trevor Ford – Project Superintendent
As Project Superintendent, Trevor is the on-site point person, overseeing day-to-day activities and working closely with subcontractors to keep the project moving along. He is in charge of quality control and making sure the project stays on schedule. Coordinating with subcontractors for when they need to be on site, along with site safety, keeping the jobsite clean and respectable is a big part of his responsibilities. Trevor holds weekly subcontractor meetings to discuss safety and scheduling. He is responsible for keeping office staff informed of the project’s progress by submitting jobsite photos, daily logs, and weekly progress reports.
Trevor is fairly new to the industry and previously worked in HVAC distribution for 7 plus years.
In 2010, Trevor graduated from St. Cloud Technical and Community College with a degree in Carpentry. He recently become certified in Erosion and Stormwater Construction Site Management and completed his Adult First Aid/CPR/AED training.
Brad Schlechter – Project Superintendent
As Project Superintendent, Brad is the onsite point person, working closely with clients, architects, structural engineers and subcontractors to keep the project moving forward, on schedule and within budget. Daily responsibilities include quality control, scheduling, onsite safety inspection, special inspections and work to make each and every project the best it can be for everyone involved and as a whole.
Brad has over 30 years of experience in the related fields; 11 years as a carpenter and carpenter foreman which advanced into a superintendent position for the last 19 years.
Brad has overseen many projects such as multi-story commercial buildings to school additions, convenient stores and office build-outs.
Brad has Adult First Aid/CPR and SWEEP training.
Sally Petron – Office Manager, AP/AR, HR
A part of Lyon Contracting from practically day one, Sally’s role at the company has evolved over time. As Office Manager, Sally is an integral part of executing the financial activity, processing and distributing project funds. Playing a key role of point person in the office, Sally implements crucial communication with subsidiary groups – banks, title companies, inspectors – to keep project details running smoothly. Sally also serves as head of human resources and benefits administrator.
Sally has over 19 years of experience in office support and management. Sally attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, with an emphasis in Business Administration.
Kayla Paulson – Assistant Project Manager
Kayla comes to us with experience in administrative support, project management assistance, and customer service in the construction industry. She is responsible for construction contracts and change orders incoming and outgoing for both Owners and Subcontractors. She coordinates all bidding documents, uploads plans and specifications to company website, supports Project Managers with all daily tasks; such as maintaining all project documentation, company marketing, safety certifications for both Project Managers and field employees, as well as filing, scanning, and distributing documents accordingly.
Kayla has over 3 years experience in the construction industry, previously she was a project administrative assistant for an underground utility company.
Kayla graduated from Alexandria Technical and Community College with a double major in Marketing and Sales Management along with Fashion Management in 2011.
